About Cork CIL
Independent living, led by disabled people
Cork Centre for Independent Living is a community-based, not-for-profit disability service, established in 1996 following the independent living movement that began in Dublin in 1992. We’re funded under Section 39 of the Health Act 2004 (Charity Registration Number 20036553).
Our vision
People with disabilities in Ireland have the opportunity to live without discrimination, enjoying full lives of their choosing within their families and communities.
Our mission
To work with and on behalf of people with disabilities to develop and influence public policy, services, supports and opportunities that maximise people’s choice and control.
Our philosophy
The Independent Living philosophy
At the heart of everything we do is a simple idea: disabled people should have control and decision-making authority over their own lives — the same opportunity afforded to everyone else.
We provide individualised personal assistance services, mostly delivered in partnership with the HSE. A small central team on Monahan Road coordinates skilled Personal Assistants and service coordinators who co-design user-led services with each person.

What we stand for
Our values
Five values guide our work with the people and community we serve.
Independence
People make their own choices about their own lives.
Transparency
Open and clear in everything we do.
Accountability
We stand over our decisions and actions.
Integrity
Doing the right thing, always.
Honesty
Straightforward and truthful with everyone.
Governed by a voluntary board
Cork CIL is governed by a Voluntary Board of Trustees who bring experience across disability services, finance, health and industry. Together with our team, they make sure the organisation stays true to its values and delivers real, user-led support.
